England Clinch Series Against Sri Lanka; Windies Stun South Africa in the First T20I
After winning the Test series (2-0) against the West Indies, a rejuvenated South African team is currently taking part in a 5-match twenty20 series against the Windies. But the visitor lost the series-opening match against the host Windies quite comprehensively by 8 wickets on Saturday at the National Cricket Stadium, Grenada and have taken a 1-0 lead in the T20I series. Meanwhile, England have whitewashed (3-0) Sri Lanka in a twenty20 series after winning a one-sided third match by 89 runs on Saturday at the Rose Bowl stadium, Birmingham. The results of these two T20I matches are discussed in this article.
Report of the ENG vs. SL Third T20I Match
England had already clinched the Twenty20 series after winning the first two matches. So, the third match was crucial for Sri Lanka to earn a consolation win and avoid a whitewash. However, it was a one-sided affair, with England winning by a massive 89-run margin to complete the clean sweep (3-0).
Batted first, England amassed a huge 180/6 in their allotted 20 overs, courtesy of a 105-run partnership between openers Jonny Bairstow (51) and Dawid Malan (76). The pair were aggressive from the start of the innings, and at one stage it appeared like England would score more than 200 runs.

Sri Lanka came back strong after the openers departed, and England struggled to keep up the run rate later in the innings. Lankan pacer Dushmantha Chameera was brilliant with the ball, taking four wickets for 17 runs in four overs and assisting Sri Lanka in restricting England to under 200 runs.
In the chase, Sri Lanka started to lose wickets early in the innings and were eventually bowled out for 91 runs with seven balls to spare. Lower-order batsman Binura Fernando (20) was the top scorer for Sri Lanka while pacer David Willey picked up the most 3 wickets for England.
Dawid Malan was named player of the match for his excellent batting in the third match, and Sam Curran was named player of the series.

Report of the WI vs SA First T20I Match
After winning the Test series, South Africa were overconfident heading into the first Twenty20 match against the Windies. But the Caribbean team came out with a lot of aggression on Saturday and won the game by 8 wickets with 30 balls to spare.
South Africa batted first and scored a respectable 160/6, which was ultimately not enough to win the match. Middle-order batsman Rassie van der Dussen played a quick-fire of 56 runs in 38 balls, while Quinton de Kock added 37 runs. Spinner Fabian Allen was brilliant with the ball, taking two wickets for 18 runs in four overs.
In reply, the Windies chased down the target with 5 overs in hand thanks to a fiery 85-run opening wickets stand between Evin Lewis and Andre Fletcher (30). Player of the match-winner Evin Lewis went on to score 71 off 35, including seven huge sixes, before succumbing to TabraizShamsi in the 12th over.

The Windies had already scored 124 runs at that point, and it was a straightforward thing for Chris Gayle (32) and Andrew Russell (23) to seal the victory for the Caribbean side. The second T20Imatch between the two sides will take place at the same venue on 28th June (Monday).
Bottom Line
During the opening match of the bilateral T20I series between West Indies and South Africa, the Proteas suffered their 58th T20I defeat while the Windies earned their 59th T20I victory.
Meanwhile, one of the best limited-overs teams in the world, England crushed Sri Lanka in the just-concluded bilateral Twenty20 contest. England outplayed Sri Lanka in every department throughout the series and the host side eventually won the bilateral series 3-0.

The biggest surprise of the squad was the inclusion of newbie Shamim Hossain in the twenty20 squad. Apart from that, all the expected names have been selected for the tour. Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmudullah are back in the Test lineup
Shakib has returned to the Test setup for the Zimbabwe series after missing the last Test series against Sri Lanka. His inclusion in the Test squad is a major boost for Bangladesh, particularly Shakib's bowling will be important for the team tigers. Shakib may complete his 4,000 Test runs and 12,000 international runs in the one-off Test against Zimbabwe.
Only three days after announcing the squads, BCB has included veteran Mahmudullah Riyad to the Test squad who last played for Bangladesh in a Test match against Pakistan in February 2000. Mahmudullah will play his 50th Test match if given the opportunity.
Mustafizur Rahman dropped from the Test squad
As we all know, Mustafizur Rahman is an injury-prone player that is why the selectors were hesitant to take a chance on him. He has been picked for the ODI and T20 formats and will lead Bangladesh's limited-overs teams bowling attack during the tour.

Denmark on the road for 1st time to face Wales at Euro 2020
After three emotional European Championship matches in Copenhagen, Denmark will next play in a city that Christian Eriksen once called home.
The Danes will take on Wales in the round of 16 at the Johan Cruyff Arena on Saturday, a stadium where Eriksen is fondly remembered by Ajax fans as a stylish midfield playmaker from 2010-13 before his transfer to Tottenham.
Denmark lost its first Euro 2020 match to Finland 1-0 after Eriksen suffered cardiac arrest on the field and had to be resuscitated with a defibrillator. The Danes also lost to Belgium before beating Russia 4-1 to finish second in Group B and advance to knockout rounds.
“I’m thinking a lot about Christian and how much I have hoped that he could experience this,” Denmark coach Kasper Hjulmand said. “He has been looking forward to this summer so much, it’s a big, big dream for Christian, and just to know that he’s not here hurts.”
Wales coach Rob Page paid tribute to the way the Denmark team had coped with the situation, but said his team has to focus solely on the match.
“Obviously the world has taken note of what’s happened and the emotion involved in it, but we can’t get involved in that now,” he said. “It’s work as usual for us and now we’ve got a job to do and we want to go and finish it.”
While Denmark is hitting the road for the first time at a tournament that is being played in 11 cities across Europe, Wales have had a tougher travel schedule. The team based itself in Baku, Azerbaijan, where it played its first two matches before facing Italy in Rome and traveling to the Netherlands for the round of 16.
“On paper it sounds like a great idea to have it all around Europe but logistically it is an absolute nightmare, and throw COVID into that mix as well,” Page said.

Wales’ victory over Turkey and a draw with Switzerland were enough for second place behind Italy in Group A. The Welsh lost 1-0 in their final match against the Italian, one of the tournament’s top teams.
Now Wales is hoping it can build up the same kind of momentum that carried it to the semifinals of Euro 2016, where it lost to eventual champion Portugal 2-0.
Gareth Bale, one of the stars of the 2016 campaign, is his country’s all-time leading scorer with 33 goals, but he has not scored in his last 14 internationals and missed a penalty against Turkey in Baku.
Aaron Ramsey, another of the veterans from the tournament in France, is hoping to improve on the team’s performance five years ago.
“We’re a threat. We keep games tight, so who knows,” Eamsey said. “Why not go all the way again?”
Wales will be without midfielder Ethan Ampadu, who is suspended after being sent off early in the second half of the team’s final group match against Italy for a foul on Federico Bernardeschi.
Hjulmand said it would be tough to prepare against an unpredictable Welsh team.
“They’re very flexible. They change their strategy and their positions so it’s going to be hard to know what to expect from that team,” he said.
Page said it’s uncertain how Denmark will set up for Saturday’s match. What he does know is that Wales has to match the Danes physically.
“Irrespective of what 11 he puts on the pitch, they’re going to work, battle, fight for each other and we have to match that,” Page said.

Players on both sides should have a good idea what to expect from one another — Kasper Schmeichel and Danny Ward both play for Premier League club Leicester.
“We have great competition and we have a really great relation to each other,” Schmeichel said of Ward. “I don’t see any any weakness in him. He’s a complete goalkeeper.”
Also, Ben Davies and Joe Rodon are Tottenham teammates with Denmark midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. Bale also played on loan for the London club last season.
Hojbjerg called Bale “one of the best players I’ve ever played with.”
“I know how much Wales mean to him, I know how much tomorrow’s game means to him,” Hojbjerg said. “I wish him the best, just not tomorrow.”
The winner of Saturday’s match will head to Baku — where Wales is undefeated in two matches at this tournament — to face either the Netherlands or the Czech Republic in the quarterfinals on July 3.
