Dhaka, June 3 (UNB) - Bangladesh gymnastics team have earned 13 gold in the sixteenth Singapore Open Gymnastics held at Singapore on June 1-3.
They also bagged 5 silver and 7 bronze medals in 13 disciplines of junior categories (Age 11 and under, U-11 and U-12 to 14).
The gold medalists are Kader Ali (Floor Exercise), Kilen Murung (Vault), Sajid Haque (Rings and Vault), Quader Ali Haq (Vault), Tonu Roy (Floor Exercise, Parallel Bar, Rings and Pommel Horse), Mong Ching (Parallel Bar) and Tony Mrong (Floor Exercise).
In the U-12 to 14 category, Tonu Roy clinched gold for his individual all-round performance while Ching Mong and Tony Mrong bagged gold for their all-round performance in the U-11 category.
The silver medalists are Kilen Murung (Parallel Bar) Tonu Roy (Vault, High bar), Nijum Khisa (Parallel Bar). Sajid Haque clinched the silver medal in the U-12 to 14 category.
The bronze medalists are Kilen Murung (Floor Exercise, High Bar), Nijum Khisa (Pommel Horse), Sajid Haque (High Bar), Mong Ching (Vault) and Tony Mrong (Parallel Bar).
In the age 11 and under category, Kilen Murung bagged bronze medal.
Dhaka, June 3 (UNB)- Mohammad Hafeez smashed 84 off just 62 balls to guided Pakistan to 348 for 8 in 50 overs in their second match of the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 against hosts England at Trent Bridge in Nottingham on Monday.
Mohammad Hafeez hit eight fours and two sixes in his innings. Among others, Babar Azam scored 63 off 66 balls while captain Sarfaraz Ahmed 55 off 44 balls.
Earlier, Imam-ul-Haq and Fakhar Zaman gave a solid start to Pakistan when England captain Eoin Morgan invited them to bat after winning the toss.
In the opening stand, the pair added 82 runs in 14.1 overs. Moeen Ali made first breakthrough dismissing Fakhar Zaman for 36.
Other opener Imam-ul-Haq added some more runs before his departure by Moeen Ali for 44 in the 20.1 over.
Then, Babar Azam along with Mohammad Hafeez tried to resist English bowlers. The pair added 88 runs in the third-wicket stand and was cruising to a big score for Pakistan.
But Moeen Ali broke the pair sending back Babar Azam for 63 when Pakistan were on 199 for 2.
Mohammad Hafeez and Sarfaraz Ahmed added 80 runs in the fourth wicket stand.
After Hafeez’s departure at 279 in 42.4 over, Sarfaraz Ahmed continued his composure over English bowlers.
The Pakistani captain hit five fours to smash a half century. He was removed by Chris Woakes.
Among others, Asif Ali scored 14 and Shoaib Malik 8 while tailender Wahab Riaz added 4.
Hasan Ali and Shadab Khan were unbeaten adding 10 runs each. Pakistan set a target of 349.
On the other hand, Chris Woakes and Moeen Ali picked up 3 wickets each conceding 71 and 50 runs respectively while Mark Wood took 2 for 53.
Dhaka, Jun 3 (UNB) – The first-ever National Junior Baseball Championship 2019 is going to start on July 29 at Paltan Maidan in the capital.
The three-day meet will conclude on July 31, said Bangladesh Baseball-Softball Federation in a statement on Monday.
The championship will allow only the school-level boys while the federation will pick up the best players from the participants to form a national age-level team and will provide them special training under the supervision of a foreign coach.
The interested teams were asked to enroll their names on June 20 at the office room (no. 239) of Bangladesh Baseball-Softball Federation in Maulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium.
Dhaka, Jun 3 (UNB)- Bangladesh Grand Master Ziaur Rahman shared the third slot in 12th KIIT International Chess Festival 2019 along with other 40 players after the 4th round games held at Bhubaneshwar of Odisha in India on Sunday.
Ziaur Rahman and his compatriot FM Mohammad Fahad Raman both earned 3 points each.
In the 4th round games, GM Zia drew with Pratik Patil of India while FM Fahad drew with GM Debashis Das of India.
A total of 16 players from Bangladesh were participating in the grandmasters event of the tournament.
Among them, Tahsin Tajwar Zia earned 2.5 points while Md Anisuzzaman Jewel, Mezanur Rahman and Md Shahdul Islam earned two points each.
Tahsin beat Kaushik Iyar of India, Jewel drew with Barik Jaghdish of India, Mezan drew with Tejas Suresh Kumar of India, Shahid beat Vaibhav Kalpala of India.
Avik Sarker and Md Hafiz Bin Islam Rony earned 1.5 points each while Md Tipu Sultan, Sazzad Kishor, S C Sarker Shyamal, Abu Lish Ansary and Jadunath Biswas earned 1 point each.
Md Abzid Rahman earned 0.5 point after 4th round games.
