A total of 142 students from different departments of Dhaka University (DU) were awarded “The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award” on Sunday for their achievement in various extra-curricular activities.
Among them, 58 received Silver Award and 84 won Bronze Award. DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman distributed the awards among the students as chief guest at a function held at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban.
Director of Students Counseling and Guidance Office Prof Dr Mahjabeen Haque presided over the function while Chairman of Executive Committee of the Duke of Edinburgh Award Foundation Rizwan-Bin-Farouk and National Director of the Foundation Brig Gen (retd) Kaiser Ahmed addressed it as special guests.
VC Akhtaruzzaman congratulated the awardees. He said students have to participate in extra-curricular activities along with their academic works to make themselves as worthy citizens.
