IU and Istanbul Foundation for Science and Culture (IFSC) jointly organised the conference at Birshrestha Hamidur Rahman Auditorium.
University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman Professor Abdul Mannan addressed the inaugural session as the chief guest while IU Pro-VC Professor M Shahinoor Rahman and Islamic Foundation Director General Shamim Mohammad Afzal spoke as special guests with IU Vice-Chancellor Professor M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari in the chair.
The speakers shed lights on global peace and harmony in accordance with the teaching of Bodiuzzaman Sayeed Nursi. They said no religion preached terrorism, militancy, and violence.
The speakers urged everyone to be united to shun violence.
IU English department Assistant Professor M Sazzad Hossain Zahid and Al-fiqh and legal studies department Associate Professor Nasir Uddin Al-Azhari jointly conducted the conference attended by 1,000 students and teachers of different faculties of the university.
Researchers and scholars from different countries presented a total of 71 articles in the seminar.
Later, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between IU and IFSC to undertake joint academic and research activities.
The conference will end on Tuesday.
