Four people were arrested in separate rape cases in Jashore and Narayanganj districts on Wednesday.
In Jashore, police arrested Shahid Ali, 32 and Abdul Karim, 35, for violating a newly-wed housewife at Swarupdah village in Chowgaccha.
According to the victim, her husband and mother-in-law used to torture her after the marriage. On Monday night, at one stage of the torture, she fled from the house and took shelter near a tea stall owned by Shahid Ali in Hajrakhana intersection, adjacent to Chowgaccha-Maheshpur road. The tea staller forcibly took her to an orchard and violated her there.
Then, he took her to the house of Abdul Karim. She also was abused by Karim at his house.
She returned to her house in the morning and informed her family.
Later, she filed a case with Chowgaccha police stations against Shahid and Karim.
Police arrested the duo on Wednesday noon and sent them to court, said Rifat Khan Rajib, officer-in-charge of the police station.
The victim was sent for medical test.
In Narayanganj, police arrested Robin, 19 and Kamal, 30, from Paindi Uttarpara area of Siddirganj Police Station in a case filed in connection with a gang-rape incident, said Kamrul Fauk, officer-in-charge of the police station.
