Information Communication and Technology (ICT) Division, Department of ICT and Bangladesh Association of Call Centre and Outsourcing (BACCO) organized the summit at the capital's Sonargaon Hotel with a view to presenting the local and international markets’ prospects before the country's digital industry.
This year's theme was Transformation Service to Digital.
Some 40 local and 20 international analysts took part in the fourth BPO Summit. Earlier on Sunday, the event was inaugurated by Prime Minister'ss ICT Affairs Adviser Sajeeb Wajed Joy.
Wahidur Rahman Sharif, president of BACCO said that the industry as a whole expects to earn $1 billion by 2021 from exports and employ more than one lakh youth within the next two years.
He added that the government has targeted to earn $3 billion from the ICT sector and BPO can contribute $1 billion to the sum by 2021.
Zunaid Ahmed Palak, state minister for ICT, said that the BPO industry is a very promising sector.
"Now we need diversification of trade to achieve middle income by 2021," he also said.
He added that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina enabled access to education, health and internet. Now the challenge is to build on Quality.
Telecommunication and ICT Minister Mustafa Jabbar said: “Once we could not use a mouse of computer properly. We have much progressed in digital activities. Globally people respect us over our development specially in digital revolution."
Planning Minister MA Mannan said Bangladesh has been able to show a big change in a short time in various sectors.
"We hope that we can implement our goal under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina," he also said.
