A total of 65 members of Bangladesh Police have died so far after contracting coronavirus while 15,436 have been infected with the virus across the country until Monday.

Among them, 2,729 policemen are from  Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) alone till the date, said sources at police headquarters.

Of those, 13,257 infected policemen made full recovery from the disease.

However, most of the recovered policemen joined their respective duty stations, the sources added. 

Meanwhile, 18,257 policemen were sent in quarantine while 4,409 cops are undergoing treatment in isolations.

Bangladesh’s officially confirmed coronavirus cases went up to 260,507 with the detection of 2,907 new patients in 24 hours until Monday.

The death tally rose to 3,438 with 39 new deaths.
