Of them, Md Aftab Uddin and Nawsin Akand of the Peace and Conflict Studies department got Tajuddin Ahmad Peace Gold Medal and Tajudddin Ahmad Scholarship respectively, said a DU press release.
Besides, Saiful Islam Khan of History, Shurid Sadiq of Bengali, Priyanka Sultana Hema of Population Science, Nasreen Jabin of Peace and Conflict Studies and Ahmad Salman Sirazi of Microbiology department received Tajuddin Ahmad Trust Fund prizes.
DU Vice-chancellor Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman handed over the awards as the chief guest at a function held at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of the university.
DU Treasurer Prof Kamal Uddin presided over the function organised by DU Tajuddin Ahmad Memorial Trust Fund while Member of the Trustee Board Simin Hossain Rimi, MP, addressed it as a special guest.
DU Bangabandhu Professor Muntassir Mamoon delivered the memorial lecture while DU Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) Prof Dr Nasreen Ahmad, Pro-VC (Administration) Prof Dr Muhammad Samad were also present.
The DU vice-chancellor paid glowing tributes to the memory of Tajuddin Ahmad, saying, “He always worked for the nation and people. People will always remember him for his honesty and devotion for the country.”
