Dhaka, Aug 25 (UNB) - Mobile courts of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) on Sunday inspected 198 houses during their anti-mosquito drives to destroy the breeding grounds of Aedes mosquitoes, the vector of dengue virus.
In Science Laboratory of Mirpur Road, two building owners -- Md Saju, 45, and Nazrul Islam, 30, were jailed for one day as larvae of Aedes mosquito were found.
In Chamelibag of Shantinagar, Twin Tower Concord authorities were fined Tk 30,000 for the same offence.
In Jatrabari area, five building owners were fined Tk 6,000 each as larvae of Aedes mosquito were found.
Magistrates inspected several other houses during drives and warned few building owners for unhygienic environment.
The DSCC has so far jailed four people and realised Tk 3,190,000 as fine after inspecting 72,243 buildings.
