Bagerhat, Oct 1 (UNB) – Bus movement on Bagerhat-Shonadanga and Bagerhat-Rupsha routes remained suspended for around four hours as the transport workers went on indefinite work abstention on Wednesday morning protesting the attack on workers at Shonadanga Bus Terminal in Khulna.
Rezaur Rahman Mantu, president of Bagerhat inter-district motor workers union, said the transport workers of Bagerhat were often assaulted by the local workers at Shonadanga bus Terminal as well as the motor parts were also stolen from there.
But, the Shonadanga Motor Workers Union did not pay any heed when informed, he said.
Therefore, the general workers of Bagerhat went on work abstention from 7 am, halting bus movement, he added.
However, the bus movement resumed around 11 am considering the public sufferings, said Nazrul Islam Mantu, president of Bagerhat Inter-district Bus Minibus Owners Association.
