Two men reportedly confessed on Sunday to killing three people in Banaripara upazila.
Barishal Senior Judicial Magistrate Md Enayet Ullah recorded the statement of the Jakir Hossain and Jewel at night and sent them to jail, said Shishir Kumar Paul, investigation officer of the case.
Paul, also the officer-in-charge of Banaripara Police Station, said they confessed to their crimes “on their own”.
On Saturday, police recovered bodies of Mariam Begum, 75, and her son-in-law Mohammad Alam from her house at Saliabakpur while the body of Mariam’s nephew Md Yusuf, 18, was recovered from a pond behind the house.
Mariam’s son Sultan Mahmud filed a case over the murder.
Police later arrested Jakir, son of Chunnu Haldar, and his associate Jewel, residents of Roypasha village in Nalchiti upazila, in connection with the murder.
