Dhaka, Jan 4 (UNB) – Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) recovered a pistol loaded with seven bullets from bordering Tarapur in Shibganj upazila of Chapainawabganj district early Friday.
Based on secret information, a BGB team, led by deputy commanding officer of BGB battalion-53 Major Md Ekhlasur Rahman, conducted a drive at Tarapur field, 150 yards off the border pillar No 4/5-1S, around 4:45 am, said public relations officer of the BGB headquarters Mohsin Reza.
During the drive, the BGB men saw a man with a bag approaching towards Bangladesh from India crossing the border illegally.
Sensing the presence of the paramilitary force members, the man fled towards India leaving the bag behind, he said quoting Ekhlasur Rahman.
Searching the bag, the BGB men found a 7.65mm US-made pistol along with a magazine and seven bullets, Reza said.
