District Civil Surgeon Dr Mohamamd Shakhawatullah said 87 samples from Chandpur were tested in the 24-hour cycle, yielding a dozen positives. The district’s positivity rate, 13.8 percent, was lower than the national figure, which was close to 20 percent. Half the positives (6) were police officers of Chandpur Police Lines.
Medical team collected samples of SP Mahbubur on June 27. He has decided to take treatment at Rajarbagh Police Hospital in the capital.
Earlier, the bodyguard of SP Mahbubur was tested positive for coronavirus.
Bangladesh on Tuesday recorded 1,847 new cases of the coronavirus, along with a concerning jump in the number of deaths, as 64 new deaths due to the virus were recorded, making it by far the deadliest day so far.
The country also reported 1,45,483 Covid-19 cases with 3,682 new cases till Tuesday.
