A mobile court, led by Hathazari Upazila Nirbahi Officer and Executive Magistrate Ruhul Amin, conducted drive at the shop in Enayetpur Bahar area and seized 227 litres of soyabean oil from ‘Abul Kalam Store’.
The UNO said drive will continue against this illegal practice.
The government has arranged sale of essential items at low prices as economic activities came to grinding halt during the country’s general holidays aimed at preventing transmission of coronavirus.

According to the Commerce Ministry, 25 million families have been getting essential items through TCB at affordable prices.
Usually, TCB commences its sale of daily essentials at subsidised rates on the occasion of Ramadan. This year, thousands of people have been staying home without work thanks to coronavirus crisis, and so the number of people relying on TCB has increased.

Over a million families are getting assistance under the government’s Vulnerable Group Development (VGD) programme, five million families are getting rice at Tk 10 and 1.25 million families are getting Open Market Sales (OMS) assistance.
