The arrestees are known as Md Emdadul Islam alias Mehedi Hasan alias Sabuj alias Abu Salman alias Hujaifa, 30, and Abu Bakar alias Fahim Abdullah, 20.
Based on secret information, a CTTC team conducted a drive in front of a under-construction building at Road-25 of Banani around 3:45pm and arrested the duo, DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media) Masudur Rahman said on Tuesday.
During preliminary interrogation, the arrestees reportedly revealed that they are active ABT members and had hatched a plot to kill Khijir Hayat Khan.
Abu Bakar had already taken photographs of the Cumilla village home of the actor as part of the plan, said the DMP official.
They said they had planned to kill Khijir Hayat as his film ‘Mr Bangladesh’, which was released recently, is an anti-militancy movie.
They also opened a Telegram ID named ‘Esho Kafela Boddha Hoi’ and exchanged information among them about the plot to kill Khijir through it, Masudur Rahman said, adding that a case was filed with Banani Police Station on Monday night.
Meanwhile, the arrestees were put on a three-day remand on Tuesday for interrogation.
