The bench of Justice FRM Nazmul Ahasan and Justice KM Kamrul Kader issued the order after hearing an appeal filed by Advocate Manzill Murshid.
Murshid said that the Rajshahi divisional commissioner and deputy inspector general of police of Rajshahi range had been asked to execute the order.
Besides, an inspection team has been ordered to monitor the fruit market and warehouses across the country so that no-one can use chemicals to ripen mango.
The police chief, Rab chief, BSTI managing director and its director (chemical testing wing) have been asked to carry out the order and file a report within 30 days.
Murshid said that the court issued a seven-point directive on February 29, 2012, about mango orchards. “But last year we saw a tendency to use chemicals. So, we filed an application to have the directives issued again,” he said.
Abul Hossain, a mango grower from Rajshahi, welcomed the court’s directive. “I follow the advice of agricultural officers when using medicine in my orchard,” he said. “I never use harmful chemicals.”
