Issues related to counterterrorism, capacity building and increased cooperation between security agencies, border management, countering illegal activities like fake currency, drug and human trafficking, Rohingya and consular issues are likely to be discussed at the meeting.
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan is scheduled to leave here for New Delhi on a three-day visit on Tuesday morning to attend the 7th Bangladesh-India Home Minister-level bilateral talks with his Indian counterpart Amit Shah and other engagements there, a Home Ministry official told UNB.
The ministerial-level bilateral talks will be held on Wednesday afternoon in New Delhi, said the official adding that a preparatory meeting will also be held before that.
The Home Minister will lead the Bangladesh delegation, comprising of Secretary Public Security Division, Ministry of Home Affairs Mostafa Kamal Uddin and representatives from relevant ministries and agencies, at the meeting.
Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen on Sunday indicated that Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan may discuss the issue of reported expansion plan of Agartala Airport in Tripura which was renamed as Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport.
When his attention was drawn to media reports that India seeks land from Bangladesh for the expansion of Agartala Airport in Tripura Dr Momen said, “I didn’t get any letter…. I’ve no knowledge about it.”

Former Indian Home Minister Rajnath Singh co-chaired the 6th meeting of India-Bangladesh Home Minister-level talks with his counterpart Asaduzzaman Khan here in July last year.
The two ministers witnessed the signing of the Revised Travel Arrangement 2018 (RTA 2018) amending the earlier RTA 2013 for further liberalising the visa regime between the two countries, including enhanced duration for employment and student visas.
