Gazipur, June 4 (UNB)— A man, described as a drug dealer by police, was killed in a reported gunfight with the Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) on Monday night.
Ismail was a resident of Faridpur district.
Tongi East Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge Kamal Hossain said that a smallarm, bullets and several thousand yaba pills were recovered from the spot after the gunfight.
“A Rab team was conducting an anti-narcotics raid in the river port area when drug dealers opened fire, triggering a skirmish,” OC Hossain said.
Ismail was killed during the gunfight, the police officer claimed.
His body was sent to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
