He made the announcement after a meeting with the governing body of Dhaka Metropolitan Women's College this afternoon.
DSCC Mayor said, "The city corporation is carrying out administrative reforms...overhead cables of all organisation will be removed whether it is an internet service provider or a government agency. We will remove all the wires except the essential ones.”
A mobile court has started work, he said adding “There is no room for relaxation. Our goal is to present a Dhaka city free of overhead cable waste by next December.”
Taposh said the DSCC has taken up the task of removing waste from roads and open spaces and the people of Dhaka have already started reaping the benefits of that program.
“At a designated place in each ward or at the interim waste transfer center, our cleaners are bringing all the garbages from homes between 6 pm and 10 pm. From 10 pm to 6 am, all the garbage are being taken to the central warehouse from there,” he said.
Claiming that there will be no more garbage on the open space, the DSCC mayor said, "I urge the people of Dhaka again not to throw waste in the open space during the day...hand it over to the cleaners of our Primary Waste Collection Service Provider (PCSP) from 6 pm onwards.”
He mentioned that the DSCC has re-registered and appointed 75 PCSPs in 65 wards and they have started activities since Eid-ul-Azha.
