Thus the DU Syndicate, the highest governing body of the university— granted the earlier decision of its Disciplinary Board (DB) to suspend the 69 students on Thursday.
The syndicate also showcaused them, with an ultimatum of seven days within which those who failed to answer or answered dissatisfactory would be expelled by DU.
Mohammad Humayun Kabir, a syndicate member of the university, confirmed these developments.
Earlier, the initial decision was taken at a meeting of the university's disciplinary council on August 6, to give the students a week's notice to explain themselves.
The Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Md. Akhtaruzzaman said, “69 students accused of fraud in the admission test have been temporarily expelled. The Syndicate accepted the recommendations of the Disciplinary Council. The next steps will be taken as per the recommendations."
The students found guilty are all charged in the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the police.
