Judge Jahangir Hossain Selim and Judge Md Riaz Uddin Khan granted them six month’s bail after they sought the interim bail upon surrendering to the court on Wednesday.
The children who got bail are the inhabitants of Station Road of Mymensingh sadar thana. Of them, two were aged 10, two others 9, and one is a 14- year-old. Lawyers Fazlul Haq Khan Farid and Saifur Rahman Rahi stood in favour of them.
Later, Fazlul Haq Khan Farid said that the High Court granted them six month’s interim bail.
Victim’s mother Parveen, 42, of village Bagmara under Mymensingh sadar upazila, lodged the killing case with Kotwali police station on September 24.
According to the case statement, the victim Shakibul Hassan ,8, was a class one student of Kalibari Premier Ideal High School of the town. At around 12-30 pm on July 6, his playing mates, the five children, called Shakib out to go play with them. However, he did not return home for hours and that prompted a search. When asked about his whereabouts, the accused could not give any satisfactory reply.
It was also said in the FIR that Shakibul’s uncle saw him playing at the Kalibari old Gudaraghat cross dam area along with the accused.
Later on, after conducting search, the body of the child was found in a water-filled hole by the side of the Gudaraghat river side.
On July 7, the mother of the child filed an unnatural death case with Kotwali police station that the child died of drowning. Later on, it was found in the autopsy report that the child drowned after he was injured.
On September 24, Parveen lodged the case stating that the child died of drowning only after being injured by the unknown.
