Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen on Friday sought assistance of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to improve skills of the educated youth of the country through training.
“We have to use the funds of UNDP appropriately,” he said while addressing a discussion on the occasion of International Mother Language Day at a hotel in city’s Gulshan.
Momen said 70 percent of the country’s population is young. The government wants to turn the young into manpower by providing them with training so that they can work at home and abroad.
This way, they can be entrepreneurs rather than searching for jobs. Six lakh people are working in the information technology and freelance sectors in the country, the minister said.
