Bangladesh Independent Power Producer’s Association (BIPPA) and private business house Confidnce Group jointly started distributing coronavirus testing kits and personal protective equipment (PPE) for physicians and different institutions including police department.
State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid, and BIPPA president and Confidence Group’s Vice President Imran Karim handed over a consignment of 2000 pieces of PPE to Home Minister M Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal at his office on Monday.
Later, Nasrul Hamid and Imran Karim also met Health Minister Zahid Malek at their office at his ministry to inform about the BIPPA and Confidence Group’s initiative, said a press release.
Inspector general of police (IGP) Javed Patwari and other top officials were present on the occasion.
The BIPPA and Confidence Group said that initially they have distributed a total of 4,000 PPE to different entities including Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib University, Kuwait-Bangladesh Friendship Hospital, Police and Fire Service and Civil Defence Department.
They have a plan to give 50,000 testing kits and 50,000 PPE to different organisations and journalists, they said.
