Dr Salim, also the Chairman of the Executive Committee of Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited, explained the role of Islamic bank in the financial inclusion through redistribution of wealth by the application and practices of Zakat, waqf, qard e hasna, and Sadaquah in addition to other risk sharing products.
He was addressing an international conference titled 'Rethinking Development in South Asia' recently organized by University of Chittagong, a press release said on Thursday.
Dr. Salim chaired a session on Financial Inclusion and Development. Later, he distributed prizes and certificates among the participants. Local and international scholars, researchers, academics and development professionals attended the conference.
Dr. Md. Salim Uddin said, financial institutions are the robust pillars of progress, economic growth and development of the country's economy.
