Dhaka, Sept 7 (UNB) - State-owned North-West Power Generation Company Limited (NWPGCL) on Friday signed a joint development agreement (JDA) with Siemens of Germany to set up a 3600 MW LNG-based power plant in Payra.
The plant will be located adjacent to the existing 1320 MW coal-fired power plant.
Dipak Kumar Dhali of NWPGCL and Richard Reisig of Siemens signed the agreement on behalf of their respective sides at a function at The Westin hotel in the city.
As per the deal, the first phase of 1200 MW plant will be installed by 2021 while the second one of 2400 MW will be set up by 2024.
Power Secretary Dr Ahmad Kaikaus, NWPGCL’s GEO AM Khurshid Alam and Siemens Gas to Power President Richard Reisig spoke at the function.
