”We would like to remind the Prime Minister that no one could stop any democratic movement in Bangladesh, not even during the British and Pakistan rules by filing cases or resorting to repressive acts. A democratic movement is going on against fascism as it was in the past, and our victory is certain,” he said.
The BNP leader came up with the remarks while speaking at a discussion arranged by Desh Bachao Manush Bachao Andolon at the Jatiya Press Club, demanding the release of all political prisoners.
Dudu, a BNP vice-chairman, said the way Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina spoke at her press conference on Monday, it only exposed that time has come for her to quit power.
“We expect a good and decent language from the Prime Minister. She should learn how a Prime Minister should speak. She attacked BNP in an indecent and disgusting way yesterday (Monday),” he observed.
The BNP leader said their party will participate in the upcoming national election, but it has to be held under a non-party polls-time government as people do not believe a fair and credible election can be held under the Awami League-led government.
He said the government must release BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia from jail for creating a proper polls atmosphere and a level-playing field. "People won’t accept any polls keeping our leader (Khaleda) in jail.”
About a leaked audio clip of Barrister Mainul Hosein’s telephonic conversation where he was heard to say Dr Kamal Hossain was brought to destroy Tarique Rahman’s leadership, Dudu said they think it is an outcome of the government’s a plot. “We don't believe the audio clip. The government is trying to stop our movement by spreading the false audio clip, but they won’t succeed.”
