He was born in 1909 at Dharmaryer Bari Village under Muksudpur Upazila in Gopalganj. During his long political career, he played an important role in building a strong resistance against the imperialist forces and actively participated in the movement against Zamindary system. He was detained for several times for his role against British rule.
Mukundalal was imprisoned under defense of Pakistan rule in 1965. He was very close to Hussain Shaheed Suhurawardy, Sher-e-Bangla A K Fazlul Huq, Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhasani and the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, said a press release.
To observe the day, special prayers will be offered and a discussion will be held on Sunday evening at his younger son senior journalist Ajit Kumar Sarkar’s residence at Dhanmondi residence (Flat# 01-B, House# 25, Road#32).
