Dhaka, Nov 8 (UNB) – Bus communication between Dhaka and Rajshahi remained suspended since Thursday morning following an indefinite strike enforced by Natore transport workers, causing immense sufferings to the commuters.
The transport workers said the bus service was suspended from 10:30 am protesting a longstanding dispute among the bus workers of Natore and Rajshahi.
No long route buses left for Dhaka, Saiful Islam, executive member of Natore Transport Workers Union told our Natore correspondent.
He, however, claimed the bus services to other parts of the district remained normal.
No Dhaka-bound buses left Rajshahi bus terminal following the dispute between the transporters workers of the two districts, Manjur Rahman Peter, general secretary of Rajshahi Road Transport Association, told our Rajshahi correspondent.
“Bus movement in this route has been suspended due to a problem with the workers in Natore,” he added.
However, bus services from Rajshahi to Naogaon, Chapainawabganj and Joypurhat districts remained normal, he claimed.
“Talks with the transport leaders in Natore are ongoing. Once the issue is resolved, the service will be resumed,” he said.
