DU Vice Chancellor (VC) Professor M Akhtaruzzaman inaugurated the fair by releasing colorful balloons around 10.30am.
Addressing the ceremony DU VC said, "This type of book fair always promotes knowledge among the youth. The old books which are preserved in world famous libraries and museums, maximum of them are non-fictions. Modern cultures developed through the study of those books. So, it is necessary to read these books alongside the text books.”
DU VC also said, “We will open a desk to consult with the banks and industries so that we can provide them the human resources from among our graduates once they let us know their requirements.”
The fair was jointly organized by Daily Bonik Barta and faculty of Business Studies for the fourth time.
A total of 21 stalls of publishers and research organizations are participating in the fair.
Dean of DU Business Faculty Shibli Rubayat Ul Islam, Editor of Bonik Barta Dewan Hanif Mahmud, and Managing Director & CEO of Agrani bank Mohammad Shams-Ul Islam were present among others.
The fair remains open for all from 10 am to 8 pm every day till October 2.
