It made the demand from a human chain formed in front of the National Museum at Shahbagh in the city in the afternoon.
The platform also demanded withdrawal of all ‘false’ cases filed against students over the two movements, punishing those assaulted protesters and reforming the existing quota system in government jobs in line with their five-point demand.
Speaking on the occasion, Nurul Haq Nur, a joint convener of the student platform, urged the government to fulfill their demands, warning that they will take to the street again if those go unheeded.
Dhaka University (DU) teachers Rushad Faridi and Samina Lutfa, Jagannath University teacher Nasir Uddin Ahmed, Bangladesh General Student’s Rights Protection Council joint conveners Faruk Hossain and Bin Yamin Mollah, among others, addressed the human chain.
CU authorities on September 24 suspended Maidul Islam, an assistant professor of Sociology department, a day after he was sent to jail in a case filed under section 57 of the ICT Act.
Shahidul is now in Dhaka Central Jail in a case lodged under the same section.
