Dhaka, Nov 25 (UNB) – Different human rights groups urged the government to take effective measures to prevent the ongoing violence and torture against women and children.
About 21 rights groups including Manusher Jonno Foundation (MJF) formed a protest meeting at the Central Shaheed Minar on November 25 on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
The platform, vocal for extermination of violence against women, will arrange different programs from November 25 to December 10 demanding the elimination of gender based violence and discrimination.
MJF Executive Director Shaheen Anam said, “We have to take concerted initiative to stop violence on women. We swear that we will not keep silent when it comes to violence against women and children.”
The slogan of this year was framed as #HearMeToo- End Violence Against Women and Children ahead of the 16-day international program which was introduced in 1991 with the leadership of ‘Institute for the Center for Women’s Global Leadership’.
