Sheikh Hasina invited them at her official residence Ganobhaban as the team lifted the SAFF Under-15 Football Championship beating Pakistan in the final in Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal, on November 1 last.
Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister said the players brought rare honour for Bangladesh by winning the SAFF Under-15 Football crown.
She said the under-15 booters were groomed as the government took various measures to encourage the children to join games and sports at the grassroots level.
Hasina mentioned introducing various tournaments at the school-level like Bangabandhu Gold Cup for boys and Bangamata Gold Cup Football Tournaments for girls at primary schools across the country.
The Prime Minister also underscored the need for arranging inter-school and inter-district football competitions to develop more players in the country.
Terming football a very popular game in Bangladesh, she said her family members, including her grandfather, father, brothers Sheikh Kamal and Sheikh Jamal used to play football.
Earlier, the Prime Minister distributed Tk four lakh to each player, while Tk two lakh to each official of the team.
