A Class-VIII boy has brutally been tortured at Sakhipur village in Debhata upazila for plucking some betel leaves from a garden.
The victim - Mustafizur Rahman, 15, son of Shafiqul Islam - is now undergoing treatment at the upazila health complex.
The victim said he plucked some betel leaves from the garden of one Samar Sardar while playing in a ground near his home around 5pm on Friday.
But the garden owner did not take it easily. He along with some others caught Mostafizur and started beating him after tying his hands.
Later, they paraded him different spots on a motorcycle and confined him to a tea-stall at Sakhipur intersection.
On information, relatives went there and took the boy to the upazila health complex after rescue.
Dr Biplab Mondal, resident medical officer of the hospital, said there are injury marks on his body.
Officer-in-charge of Debhata Police Station Biplab Kumar Saha said they will take action once a complaint is lodged.
