The day is the world's biggest day of amphibian education and conservation action which is celebrated on the last Sunday of April.
WildTeam, a wildlife conservation organisation, organised the event in Dhaka as an awareness programme of Noazesh Knowledge Centre.
It was celebrated with the support of ‘Save The Frogs Foundation’, an international team of scientists, educators, policymakers and naturalists dedicated to protecting the world’s amphibian species.
To celebrate the day, a daylong program was organised where teachers from AKFS introduced the event with an interesting story on frogs. Abu Sayeed Rana, the key speaker, gave a short presentation sharing interesting facts about frogs.
About 80 children from pre-kindergarten to class two took part in the art competition while students of class three took part in the essay competition. The competition’s theme was ‘Frogs!’
Nine were selected for prizes while all participants were given a gift pack, WildTeam sources said, adding that the drawings indicate the students’ fascination and love for frogs.
