Sirajganj, Aug 30 (UNB) – Two factions of Awami League could not hold their scheduled programmes in Belkuchi upazila following the imposition of section 144.
The local administration slapped the ban on holding any gathering in and around the upazila Awami League office for four hours as two groups of local ruling party men called their meetings at the same place and same time.
An AL faction, led by upazila unit President Abdul Majid Mondol, MP, and another, led by former minister Abdul Latif Biswas, also chairman of Sirajganj Zila parishad, convened meetings at the party office at 4:30pm.
Upazila nirbahi officer Oliur Rahman imposed the restriction from 3pm to 7pm to avoid any untoward situation.
