The green activists came up with the call while speaking at a seminar on ‘City environment and health protection of low income people’ marketing the World Health Day, to be observed on April 7 at the Jatiya Press Club in the capital.
POBA and Bangladesh Resource Center for Indigenous Knowledge (BARCIK) jointly organized the seminar.
They said sanitation system is a big problem in the slum areas and good sanitation system should be created for slum dwellers in cities.
Abu Naser, Chairman of Poba, said, “The government should ensure basic rights of people. We want to live in a clean environment. So the government has to take proper initiative for healthy environment for all specially slum dwellers of the city.”
Barcik co-coordinator Jahangir Alam said that conscious should be created among people about healthy environment and the government should come forward to meet the basic needs of people.
Engineer Abdus Sobhan, General Secretary of Poba, Dr. Khaled Shawkat Ali, health affairs secretary of the organization, Dr Lelin Chowdhury were, among others, present.
