Dhaka, Nov 7 (UNB) - State Minister for Women and Children Affairs, Meher Afroz Chumki on Wednesday said that the government is going to take measures to provide training and employment of backward women in haor areas of the country.
The state minister came up with the remarks as chief guest in a programme of inaugurating “Earning and employment project for economic and social empowerment of women in haor areas.”
The Tk 6,23,00,000 project will be established in 28 upazilas of four districts, she added, said a press release of Press Information Department.
“For strengthening the social security, projects of earning and employment has been taken for social and economic development of women in haor areas. The initiative will help the rural women to get self –reliant economically”, she said.
Produced crops damaged tremendously and people become jobless for floods in Sunamganj, Habiganj, Brahmanbaria, Kishoreganj and Netrokona, Chumki said.
