“We should keep it in mind that nothing can be achieved by raising cheap slogans. Our acting chairman has taken the right decision as we’ve to fight both in and outside parliament,” he said.
Speaking at a discussion, the BNP leader further said, “I don’t have any hesitation to say that our earlier decision of not going to parliament was not right at that moment. We must carry on our fight on all the fronts.”

On April 29, four BNP MPs-elect took oath as members of the 11th parliament at the directive of party acting chairman Tarique Rahman. Another party MP was sworn in on April 27.
However, Fakhrul, who was elected MP from Bogura-6 seat, did not take oath and thus his seat fell vacant.
The BNP secretary general claimed that their party is fully united and there is no rift in it.
He suggested BNP leaders not to talk about party’s problems in any public meeting. “I urge you all to talk about party problems in party forums only.”
Mentioning that their party is going through a tough time, Fakhrul urged his party colleagues to make a strong commitment to overcome it without getting disappointed. “Never give up and be positive to move ahead.”
Fakhrul said the political perspective is now quite different from that of the ‘90s and 2001. “So, we’ve to assess the politics of 2019 and find out ways to become successful. We must use all the available scopes to continue our struggle.”
He alleged that the current government not only destroyed democracy, but also the national economy. “The economy is now in a very bad shape, no matter what they (govt) talk about growth.”
Referring to the statistics of Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD), the BNP leader said 1200 garment factories were shut while remittance declined by 26 percent.
He said the condition of only those belong to Awami League is improving, but the fate of the common people is not changing. “The common people are in financial trouble due to a rise in the prices of utility services. They’re also continuously losing their real income.”
Fakhrul said there is no security of people, including the women and children, for lack of good governance and the rule of law.
He said the government is obstructing their chairperson Khaleda Zia’s bail in the cases filed against her as it extremely fears her popularity.
The BNP leader urged the government to immediately free Khaleda from jail as she is seriously ill.
He also warned that the government will have to shoulder all the responsibilities if anything bad happens to Khaleda in jail.
