“There has been no decision yet. President Abdul Hamid has been apprised of the election preparations. The EC will sit in a meeting on November 4 for taking the decision on the election schedule,” he told reporters emerging from a meeting held with President Abdul Hamid at Bangabhaban.
The President expressed satisfaction over the preparations of the Election Commission for holding the 11th parliamentary elections, he said.
Responding to a question whether the Election Commission has gained the confidence of all parties, the CEC said they have been able to largely gain the confidence but not sure whether all the parties have their confidence in them.
Replying to another question whether all the political parties will take part in the election, he said, “I hope so.”
On the election schedule, Nurul Huda said, “There was no discussion with the President on the election schedule.”
In response to another question about the High Court directive to the EC for not accepting the amended charter of BNP, he said they received the High Court order and they will take the decision in this regard after discussions with the election commissioners.
A 5-member delegation of the Election Commission, led by the CEC, had a meeting with President Abdul Hamid at Bangabhaban that began at 4:15 pm.
