The match became a series decider as both teams won each of the first two matches of the contest.
Bangladesh made two changes to their last playing XI. Imrul Kayes and Rubel Hossain were axed and Mohammad Mithun and Mohammad Saifuddin came to the best XI to replace them.
The match will be marked as the first ODI in Sylhet which is getting the honour of hosting an ODI as the eighth venue of the country.
While walking to the middle in the match, Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, the Bangladesh ODI captain, passed Habibul Bashar’s record of leading Bangladesh in most ODIs. Habibul led the Tigers in 69 matches. Mashrafe surpassed him today as he is leading the side in the 70th match.
In the series opener, Bangladesh beat the visiting team by five wickets. Mashrafe led the bowling side taking three scalps and MustafizurRahman followed him bagging another three. Mushfiqur Rahim hit a fifty later and secured a win for the hosts.
But in the second match, the Caribbean boys bounced back with a stunning win courtesy to Shai Hope’s career-best knock of unbeaten 146. Bangladesh posted 255 in the first innings of the second match which has proved to be an easy target to chase for the Windies.
So the third match became the series decider. The winner of today’s game will hold the trophy of the series.
