This was the border frontiers’ eight consecutive national titles after clinching national crown for 19 times as Bangladesh Rifles. Bangladesh Air Force lifted the only other title in 1988.
The winners led the first half by 11-5 goals in the day’s final.
Mehidy Hasan scored seven goals, Sagar and Emdad netted four goals each for the winners while Chinu Mong scored five and Russell Chakma netted four for the losers.
Mohammad Robiul of Ansars & VDP was adjudged the best player of the tournament while Tarequl Rahman of BGB named as the best player of the final.
President of Bangladesh Insurance Association Sheikh Kabir Hossain was the chief guest in the day’s final and later distributed the prizes among the winners.
Director of the meet’s sponsor Exim Bank Col (retd) Sirajul Islam was also present as a special guest.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh Ansar Handball team finished 3rd in the meet beating Bandarban District by 40-27 goals after leading the first half by 11-5 goals at the same venue Saturday afternoon.
