Bangladesh Emerging Players Women’s Cricket team (A Team) made a frustrating start in the three-match unofficial T20 series losing to hosts South African Emerging Players Women’s team by 5 runs in the first match at the Mandela Oval in Hammanskraal on Wednesday (July 31).
They will play their third and last T20 match against South African women’s to avoid whitewash on August 4 at the same venue.
Sent in to bat first in the day’s 2nd T20, touring Bangladesh team scored a moderate total of 119 runs loss of 4 wickets in stipulated 20 overs.
Captain Nigar Sultana remained unbeaten scoring the innings highest 44 runs off 51 balls hitting three fours while Sanjida Islam contributed 33 off 39 hitting three fours and Fahima Khatun added 26 runs off 14 balls hitting 4 fours.
Tumi Sekhukhune bagged 2 Bangladeshi wickets conceding 23 runs while Evodia Yekile and Dane van Niekerk took one wicket each.
In reply, South women’s team scored 120 runs for 4 in 19.3 overs to beat Bangladesh by 6-wicket.
Dane van Niekerk remained unbeaten on 50 runs off 40 balls hitting 6 fours and one six while Faye Tunnicliffe also remained unbeaten on 20 runs off 21 hitting one six.
Shaila Sharmin claimed 2 wickets for 13 runs while Nahida Akter and Ritu Moni took one wicket each for Bangladesh.
