Bangladesh Navy dominated the pool securing six gold, five silver and three bronze medals, Bangladesh Army were in distance 2nd with two gold, two silver and five bronze medals while Bogura Swimming Centre bagged a silver medal in the eight events decided on the opening day (Sunday).
Junaina Ahmed of Bangladesh Navy made the day’s first record in the women’s 200-meter freestyle with a timing of 02:19.89 minutes, to better the previous marks of 02:25.56 minutes.
Jewel Ahmed of Bangladesh Army set a new national mark in the men’s 200-meter back stroke clocking 02:16.13 minutes to imprive the old mark of 02.16.76 minutes.
Junaina Ahmed made the day’s 3rd and her 2nd record in the women’s 200-meter back stroke covering the distance in 02:40.75 minutes to better the previous mark of 02:44.80 minutes.
Mahmud-un-Nabi Nahid of Bangladesh Navy created the day’s another record in the men’s 100-meter butterfly with a timing of 56.82 seconds to improve old marks of 57.50 seconds.
Sonia Akhter Tumpa of Bangladesh Navy made the day’s last record in the women’s 100-meter butterflty clocking 01:08.95 minutes to better the previous record of 01:10.04 minutes.
Junaina Ahmed of Navy emerged as the best swimmer on the opening day clinching two gold medals, while Sonia Akter Tumpa and Rumana Ahmed Navy bagged one gold each.
In the men’s group, Jewel Ahmed of Army, Ariful Islam, Mahmud-ud-Nabi Nahid and Asif Reza of Nay bagged one gold medal each.
