All of them played remarkably well in the match. Both Tamim and Soumya hit centuries while Imrul scored a rapid 27 off 25 balls.
Though these performances are enough to make Liton worried about his place in the best XI, his words did not betray any.
“My job is to play according to my capabilities, and I am up for that. It depends on the selectors and team management whether I get a chance in the playing XI or not. There is no pressure on me. I will try to perform regardless of the situations,” Liton sounded confidence while talking to reporters.
In the last 10 one-day innings that Liton has played, he managed to pass two-digit scores thrice, and two of them were 121 and 83.
“It is true that there are some players who get a good start but fail to utilize. They perhaps think in many ways. But in my case, you can see my dismissals; I have been failing to have a good start. So I am working with the batting coach to resolve the issue,” he said.
Liton keeps his fingers crossed
Dhaka, Dec 6 (UNB) – Liton Das, the right-handed wicketkeeper-batsman said on Thursday he is hopeful of finding a place in the playing XI despite the inclusion of four openers in the squad for the upcoming three-match one-day International against visiting West Indies.
“It is good for us (to have four openers in the squad), and you may call it challenging too. Everyone one of them has been performing well which is nice to see. And obviously, it creates a challenge to do better,” Liton said before a practice session at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
When Liton was at the nets today (Thursday), the other three openers—Tamim Iqbal, Imrul Kayes and Soumya Sarkar—were in Bangladesh Kirra Shikkha Protishthan (BKSP) playing the lone practice match for the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) XI against the Windies.
