Rangpur Division resumed the first innings in the morning with their overnight total of 300 for 5 in 90 overs and piled up the huge total riding on 26-year-old right handed middle order batsman Ariful Haque’s superb knock.
Ariful Haque, who played only six T20 Internationals for Bangladesh, resumed batting with 117 runs and contributed his career best innings of 231 runs off 325 balls, featuring 21 fours and four sixes before being caught by Monir Hossain, off a Shohag Gazi ball at 500 for 9 in 144.4 overs.
Apart from Ariful Haque’s double ton, Naeem Islam scored 92, Zahid Javed 62, Suhrawardy Shuvo 45 and Dhiman Ghosh 28 runs in the first innings for Rangpur Division.
Monir Hossain Khan and Shohag Gazi grabbed three wickets each conceding 128 and 142 runs respectively while Kamrul Islam Rabbi took two for 94 runs.
In reply, Barisal Division opened the first innings and scored 91 for 1 in 34 overs to trail by 411 runs when the bails were drawn for the 2nd day (Tuesday).
