Dhaka, Apr 5 (UNB) — Prime Bank Cricket Club and Gazi Group Cricketers won their respective matches on Friday in the ninth round of Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League.
Prime Bank outclassed Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan (BKSP) by 172 runs in Fatullah.
Prime Bank won the toss and decided to bat first. They posted 222 for eight wickets in 50 overs in spite of some poor displays from both top and middle order.
They lost the first wickets after posting just 10 runs on the board. Salman Hossain was the first batsman to get dismissed. The other opener, Anamul Haque, fell for 23 off 31 deliveries.
However, Abhimanyu Easwaran scored 92 off 109 balls with only two fours and one six. Ariful Haque and Alok Kapali failed to impress as they fell for 0 and 1.
Coming to bat at number seven, Nahidul Islam hit a fifty with one four and three sixes.
For BKSP, Sumon Khan, Naushad Iqbal and Hasan Murad bagged two wickets each. While replying, BKSP tumbled for 50 all-out in 22 overs.
Parvez Hossain Emon was the only BKSP batsman to reach a double-digit score. He ended with 15.
Al Amin Hossain, who is not with the national set-up currently, bagged five wickets conceding only 20 runs. Along with him, right-arm off-spinner Nayeem Hasan took two wickets conceding six runs in four overs.
Al Amin was awarded the man of the match for his splendid performance with the ball. It was Prime Bank’s seventh win of the season while BKSP suffered their sixth loss.
In the other match at Savar, Gazi Group Cricketers beat Brothers Union by nine runs. It was the fourth win of Gazi in the league while struggling Brothers suffered the seventh loss of the season.
Brothers won the toss and decided to bowl first. Four of the first five batsmen of Gazi fell for single-digit score. One of them, captain Imrul Kayes, fell for a duck.
Despite this fragile show, Gazi posted 206 thanks to Kamran Ghulam and Mehedi Hasan. While Kamran struck 82, Mehedi scored 48. Wicketkeeper-batsman Shamsul Islam posted 22.
For Brothers, left-arm pacer Sajedul Islam bagged four wickets conceding 54 runs while Mehedi Hasan and Mohammad Sharif took two wickets each.
While replying, Brothers got a solid start, posting 136 for two wickets. Opener Junaid Siddique struck 72 while Mizanur Rahman scored 25.
They lost the last eight wickets in 61 runs and subsequently lost the game. They needed 21 from the last 24 balls but were all-out for 197 in 48.5 overs.
For Gazi Group, Nasum Ahmed registered his first five-wicket haul in List-A cricket conceding 49 runs while Sanjit Saha bagged three wickets conceding 45 runs.
