“It’s a big platform for young cricketers. As I know, there’re too many cricket academies in Dhaka. They need to have a good platform to flourish. This platform will create a chance for them to go to the next level,” Shakib said on Saturday at the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).
“I think it’s a good initiative by BCB. I want to thank BCB for this, and at the same time, I hope the players will perform well to take the limelight. I also hope we’ll get many cricketers for U-15, U-16 and U-19 teams from this event,” Shakib further said.
“I hope they will play to enjoy the game. It won’t be ideal to set a target of life for the players at this point of time. It’ll be their best achievement to get positive feedback from this event. At the same time, they need to make that this tournament is not all. This tournament is not the end of the world for who will fail. At the same time, it’s not all for who will perform well. I hope they’ll play keeping these things in mind,” he said.
A total of 28 participating academy teams are from Dhaka Metropolis and the other academies are from outside Dhaka.
