Coach of Bangladesh U-19 team Mahabub Ali Zaki on Wednesday said the England tour will be a good chance for the junior Tigers to get themselves prepared ahead of the ICC Under-19 World Cup in South Africa in 2020.
“We’re gearing up with two big challenges. The first one is the tour of England to participate in a tri-nation series involving England and India and also to contest in the Under-19 World Cup,” Mahabub told reporters.
In the ongoing camp, the junior Tigers are working on their fitness and later they will start the skill training soon as well.
“We’re emphasising on fitness training now. After that, we’ll start the skill training programme as well. The camp will continue till May 26. The boys will join the camp two days after Eid. This camp is our last chance of getting prepared ahead of the tour,” the coach further said.
“We’ve played well against England in the previous series. They failed to do well in our home soil. We’re working hard to build our strength and as well as to overcame our weakness. England will also try hard to win their matches at home. We’re preparing ourselves keeping that in mind,” Mahabub added.
The coach believes the tour of England will be an ideal chance for the boys to get adapted to the fast wickets. At the same time, the tour will be really a tough for the boys because they will have to play in an unfamiliar condition.
“The England tour is very important for us because it will be a good chance for us to prepare ahead of the World Cup. We’re really very serious about this tour. We’re trying to teach the boys the difference between the wickets of Asia and England, South Africa,” Mahabub further said.
