Flooding caused by extreme rainfalls in Indonesia's capital of Jakarta, and its satellite cities, killed one, cut off electricity and forced a number of people to be evacuated on Tuesday.
Flooding was particularly severe in the eastern part of Jakarta and Bekasi, West Java. One Bekasi resident died of electrocution during the disaster, local police reported.
"Yes, it's confirmed that one died of electrocution," Eka Mulyana of the Bekasi Police said on Tuesday.
Roads are closed in several areas in Greater Jakarta due to the flood. Train services are also affected by the disruption. At least 325 electrical substations have been shut off to ensure safety.
Greater Jakarta, home to around 35 million people, is always prone to floods. Early this year, at least 60 people were killed and 175,000 were displaced due to floods caused by extreme rainfalls.
