The local administration put 12 ready-made garment workers and two children, who returned from Gazipur by a truck, under institutional home-quarantine in Bhuringamari upazila on Friday.
Confirming the information, Upazila Nirbahir Officer Firujul Islam said police detained the RMG workers and children in the morning and kept them in institutional quarantine at Bhuringamari Govt College.
Atiar Rahman, officer-in-charge of Bhurungamari Police Station, said seven men, five women and two children arrived in the upazila by a truck putting a tent over them. All of them are permanent residents of the upazila, he added.
Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Abu Sazzad Hossain said samples from all of them will be collected on Saturday for coronavirus test.
Bangladesh has so far confirmed 171 deaths and 4,689 coronavirus cases.
